Silopi, TURKEY, March 10, 2003 - Six tanks belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and several jeeps flying the U.S. flag have reportedly entered northern Iraq via the Habur border gate.

After the initial deployment last week of a 104-vehicle convoy carrying military equipment to the Habur border area, a larger convoy of 530 vehicles had reached the border on Friday. The two convoys transporting military supplies, tanks, combat equipment and heavy artillery have been waiting in a tent city erected in a field belonging to Refineries General Directorate, two kilometers north of Habur. Journalists have been barred from entering the area stretching from Silopi in southeastern Turkey to the Iraqi border.
