新年おめでとうございます。ムンバイでのＷＳＦが
近づいてきました。このＭＬを管理してもらっている
小倉先生はじめ、多くの皆さんに心から感謝しています。

ところで、私は、「宇宙への兵器と原子力の配備に
反対する地球ネット」を代表するかたちで、個人参加
します。私は、立命館大学の国際平和ミュージアムの
メディア資料セクター長をしていますが、ＭＬのリスト
をみるかぎり、私の属する立命館大学からの参加者は私だけ
のようですね。
現在のところ、私はつぎの３つのイベントに参加ないし企画
していますので、ご紹介します。

１）１月１８日の午前９時から夕方まで続く
「核戦争の危険ーー核兵器の廃絶をどう進めるか」
の第一部(午前）の核の危険をどう評価するか
の第５報告者で、「核兵器、宇宙戦略とミサイル防衛」
について、１０分報告し、２０分討論してもらいます。
冒頭に日本被団協の代表の報告が配せられているので、
そのサポートが私の役割だろうと思います。「０４年のノー
ベル平和賞を日本被団協」にというキャンペーンの提起を
したいと考えています。
なお私の紹介では、私は女性のようになっていますが、
中年の男性です。
以下英文ですみませんが、原水協の皆さんはもちろん、
関心のある方はぜひ来てください。場所などは未定。ム
ンバイで確認することになるのでしょうね。
私の相棒のプルトニウムアクション広島の大庭里美さん
の作られた資料なども持っていって売りますので、よろしく。

THE CAMPAIGN TO ABOLISH NUCLEAR WEAPONS

Segment I: Assessing the Nuclear Threat
Moderator: Brian Fitch, Secretary-General, International Association of Peace

Each speaker has ten minutes to speak, followed by a twenty minute discussion.

1. Mr. Takamitsu Nakayama, Japan, Nihon Hidankyo. Introduction from hibakusha.
2. Ms. Tara Dorabji, USA, Tri-Valley CAREs. To speak on US nuclear policy/practice.
3. Ms. Ilina Sen, India, Coalition for Nuclear Disarmament and Peace. To speak on
nuclear policy/practice in south Asia
4. Mr. Thanassis Pafilis, Greece, World Peace Council. To speak on nuclear
policy/practice under NATO.
5. Ms. Atsushi Fujioka, Japan, Global Network. To speak on Japanese policy nuclear
weapons, space, and missile defense.

Segment II: The Global Campaign
Moderator: Alfred Marder, World Peace Council

Each speaker has ten minutes to speak, followed by a twenty minute discussion.

1. Mr. Tadaomi Saito, Japan, Mayors for Peace.
2. Mr. Alyn Ware, Aotearoa-New Zealand, International Association of Lawyers Against
Nuclear Arms and Global Coordinator for the Parliamentary Network for Nuclear Disarmament.
To speak on the draft nuclear weapons abolition treaty and the efforts of parliamentarians
to promote nuclear disarmament.
3. Mr. Lalit Suyrjan, Vice President of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organization,
the India affiliate of the World Peace Council

Segment III: The Local Campaign
Moderator: Rhianna Tyson, WILPF

Each speaker has ten minutes to speak, followed by a twenty minute discussion.

1. Mr. Pol d'Huyvetter, Belgium, For Mother Earth. To speak on citizens weapons inspections.
2. Mr. Michael Coffey, USA, Nuclear Age Peace Foundation. To speak on youth-led initiatives
to combat nuclear facilities.
3. Mr. Mark Levine, USA, Peace Commission. To speak on local peace commissions and their
disarmament work.
4. Dr. Arjun Makhijani, USA, Institute on Energy and Environmental Research. To speak on
successes and past practices of local environmental movements in combating nuclear danger
in their communities.

Speakers’ Biographies

Atsushi Fujioka was born in 1947 and raised in the city of Kyoto. She graduated from Kyoto
University with a PhD. Today she is a full professor of Peace Economics and US economy,
specializing in US strategy to control space and intelligence, as well as its strategy to
develop the third generation of nuclear weapons. Currently she serves as a media/resource
director of Kyoto Museum for World Peace, Ritsumeikan University,
the biggest university in the western Japan. She is also on the board for the Global Network
against Nuclear Weapons and Power in Space. Ms. Fujioka also served as a Secretary General
for the 3rd International Conference of Peace-related Museums, held in 1998. Every summer
since 1995, in cooperation with the American University's Nuclear Studies Institute and the
College of Marshall Islands, Ms. Fujioka co-organizes the International Youth Seminar on
nuclear and peace issues, which travels through Kyoto, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

２）「帰ってきたスターウオーズーーブッシュの宇宙支配戦略と軍産複合体の暴走」
という地球ネット作成(２９分）の上映会ーー大庭さんたちが作られた日本語字幕入り
のものを、並行して開かれる世界青年キャンプの映像フェスティバルで上映します。
ＭＬで世界青年キャンプのプログラムを紹介していただきたおかげです。
日時と場所は未定ですが、これもムンバイで分かるでしょう。ラムズフェルドの
宇宙委員会からはじまる戦略が、的確に描かれ、ミチオ・カク博士やインドの
バンダナ・シヴァさんなども出演している興味深いビデオです。１０部ほどコピーを
もっていきますので、おめがねにかなえば買ってください。

３）マハトマ・ガンジーの末裔たちとの交流会
ご承知のようにムンバイは、マハトマたちの非暴力のたたかいの根拠地の一つでし
た。ここにマハトマの曾孫ーーツシャール・ガンジーが、「マハトマ・ガンジー財団」
というＮＧＯを立ち上げて活動しています。マハトマの次男で、南アフリカ
ダーバン近郊のフェニクスアシュラム（農場と新聞社を併設）を引き継いだアリヤー
ルの長男ーーアルン・ガンジーと妻のスナンダの２人の子どもの一人です。
キング牧師が暗殺された米国南部のメンフィスでＭ．Ｋ．ガンジー非暴力研究所
を主宰しているアルン・ガンジーさんと私は友人で、平和ミュージアムなどの
行事にこれまで３度彼らを日本に招いたことがあります。
ツシャールさんは、彼の財団の名前で、会期中出店をだしますので、そこ
で交流してください。
ちょうどこの時期はアルンもスナンダさんとともにツシャールさんのムンバイ
の家で滞在中で、孫のお守りを楽しみにしています。１月１５日に、ムンバイ
で彼らと再会する予定ですので、そのときに日本の参加者と
彼らとの交流会を企画したいと思います。また可能ならば、ムンバイ市内の
マニ・バヤン（ガンジー博物館）などをまわるエクスカーションなども
企画できたらいいなと考えています。アルンたちは、高齢でもあり、孫たち
の世話と休養を優先したいと、講演会などへの招待を固辞していますので、何かかわり
に気楽な催し(茶話会など？）を企画できたらいいなと考えています。これらの
ことは、１月１５日に具体化できれば、日本関係者の溜まり場に「お知らせ情報」
をはりたいと思います。

以上の３つがいまのところの私の予定です。これらの企画の具体化に興味のある
方は、一緒にやりませんか。
私は、１月１４日に関西空港をたって、同日の夜にムンバイに着き、２１日まで
滞在します。宿泊先は、ムンバイの国内向け空港の近くのホテル・リンクスで、電話
