「復興を支える女性たち：UNDP・日本パートナーシップ」東京・2000年
国連開発計画（UNDP）は、国際シンポジウム「復興を支える女性たち：UNDP・日
本パートナーシップ」を平成12年7月28日（金）有楽町マリオン朝日ホールにて開
催致します。
当シンポジウムの目的は、UNDPと日本の開発途上国の女性支援におけるパートナー
シップを広く一般市民の皆様に紹介し、関心を持っていただくことにあります。
1995年9月、日本政府によりUNDP内に設置された日本WID基金（Japan Women in
Development Fund）を通し、UNDPと日本は世界中で様々なプロジェクトを支援し
てきました。その中から、特に紛争後の復興開発における女性支援のプロジェク
トに焦点をあて、復興開発と、そのプロセスに女性が自己決定権を持って参画し
ていくことの重要性についてわかりやすく説明し、UNDPと日本の協力関係につい
ても考えます。今回のシンポジウムを通じて、国際協力に携わる皆様や一般市民
の方々に、開発途上国の女性支援におけるUNDPと日本のパートナーシップへの理
解を少しでも深めていただくことができればと考えています。
基調講演では、国連開発計画本部（UNDP）開発政策局長 渡辺英美が「復興支援
における女性の役割」と題し、復興開発支援において女性が自己決定権を持って
参画していくことの重要性、またUNDPの活動状況について報告します。
基調講演に続いてカンボジアのマイクロファイナンス（貧しい人々のための小
規模融資制度）プロジェクトのビデオを上映し、昨年5月にカンボジアを訪れた紺
野美沙子UNDP親善大使がカンボジアの女性たちの様子やUNDPの活動状況、そして
シンポジウム開催直前に予定されているパレスチナ視察について報告します。
また、今年2月にグアテマラの女子教育プロジェクトを訪問した報道番組「ザ・ス
クープ」の長野智子キャスターをプレゼンターとし、長野キャスターがリポーター
役をつとめる同プロジェクトのビデオを上映します。
続いて、JICA田中由美子社会開発協力部長が「JICAにおける復興開発支援」とい
うテーマで講演を行います。最後にパネルディスカッション「途上国女性支援で
のUNDPと日本の協力」では、萩谷順朝日新聞編集委員を進行役とし、UNDPとJICA
職員が、UNDPと日本協力のフレームワークと現状の活動状況について報告し、復
興開発分野でのこれからのUNDP・日本協力について考えます。
本シンポジウムは外務省、国際協力事業団（JICA）、朝日新聞の後援、国際連合
プロジェクト・サービス機関（UNOPS）の協力のもと開催されます。

Invitation to the Symposium
"Empowerment of Women in Post-Conflict Reconstruction" Tokyo 2000
The United Nations Development Programme has organized an international
symposium on the " Empowerment of Women in Post-Conflict Reconstruction"
to be held on July 28, 2000 at Asahi Hall, Yurakucho Marion.
The purpose of this symposium is to introduce to the public and raise
their awareness of the collaborative activities between the UNDP and
Japan in the field of women's issues. In September 1995, the Japanese
government established the " Japan Women in Development Fund" within the
UNDP. Since its establishment, UNDP and Japan have sponsored many
projects world wide through this fund. Of these worldwide projects,
this symposium gives special attention to those supporting women in
post-conflict reconstruction. The symposium will emphasize the
importance of women's empowerment in the reconstruction process, as well
as reflect on the cooperative relationship between UNDP and Japan. Our
hopes are that those involved in international cooperation as well as
the general public will come out of this symposium with a better
understanding of the cooperative efforts between the UNDP and Japan in
the field of women and post-conflict reconstruction.
In the speech, " Women's Role in Post-Conflict Reconstruction", Ms.
Eimi Watanabe, Director of Bureau for Development Policy, UNDP will
report on the importance of women's empowerment in the reconstruction
process, and the current activities of the UNDP. Following my speech
will be a video presentation of the Micro-finance Project (a small scale
financing system for the poor) in Cambodia. UNDP Global Goodwill
Ambassador, Ms. Misako Konno, will report on her trip to Cambodia last
May. She will talk about the situation facing Cambodian women, UNDP
activities, and the inspection of Palestine to be held just before the
date of symposium. The symposium will also feature Tomoko Nagano,
anchorperson of TV Asahi, and a video of her reporting on the " Girls
Education in Guatemala" project.
Following that will be a speech by Ms. Yumiko Tanaka, director of
Social Development Cooperation department of JICA on " JICA- UNDP
collaboration in post-conflict countries." The symposium will conclude
with a panel discussion entitled, "UNDP - Japan Partnership for the
Advancement of Women: Framework and Field Perspectives" With Mr. Jun
Hagitani, news commentator for Asahi Shimbun/ TV, acting as the
moderator, JICA and UNDP employees will discuss the current framework
under which they operate their current activities, as well as future
prospects for collaboration in the field of reconstruction.
This symposium is to be held under joint sponsorship of the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, JICA, and Asahi Shimbun, in cooperation with UNOPS.
